Timberwolves to host Young, Afflalo, Brewer for free agent workouts

The Minnesota Timberwolves will host some free agent workouts this week, with Nick Young, Arron Afflalo and Corey Brewer as the headliners, according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP.com.

Young, Afflalo and Brewer are unrestricted free agents. Young spent this past season with the Golden State Warriors, Afflalo played with the Orlando Magic and Brewer split time between the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 80 regular season games with the Warriors, Young averaged 7.3 points while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from three. Young is one of the most inconsistent players in the game, as you never really know what you’re going to get from him on a nightly basis. When he’s hitting his shot, however, Young can be a valuable scorer off the bench.

Afflalo is looking to join a contender. He appeared in 53 games with Orlando and averaged just 3.4 points per game. The 32-year-old has career averages of 10.8 points in 762 games and shoots 45.0 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Brewer began his career with the Timberwolves back in 2007. He returned to Minnesota in 2013 as well. The 11-year veteran holds career averages of 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

In 2017-18, the Timberwolves were last in the NBA in 3-pointers made, as the team only hit 658. Young, Afflalo and Brewer can all shoot from distance. Brewer is the best defender of the group and has a rapport with the organization already.
