Cavs' pursuit of Hill 'at a standstill'
The on-again, off-again quest for the Cleveland Cavaliers in pursuit of a deal with the Sacramento Kings for veteran guard GeorgeHill could be classified as "on hold," at least for now.
Word is, negotiations between Cleveland and Sacramento are at a "standstill." However, that is expected to change yet again as the NBA's Feb. 8 trade deadline approaches.
A report on cleveland.com said the Cavaliers and Kings are "far apart" in terms of agreeing on a deal for Hill.
The rumored deal, first reported by Amico Hoops, has the Cavaliers sending ChanningFrye, ImanShumpert and possibly DerrickRose and a future second-round draft choice to Sacramento in exchange for Hill. If a deal can't be worked out by the trade deadline, a buyout remains a possibility. Hill signed a three-year, $57 million deal with the Kings over the summer.
The 31-year-old Hill has been rumored to be a target of the Cavaliers for the last several years. He is averaging 10.3 points a game for the anemic Kings (15-33) and is shooting an excellent 44.8 percent from the 3-point line.
Having been replaced in Sacramento's starting lineup by rookie De'AaronFox, Hill did not get off the bench in the Kings' 89-88 final-seconds win against at Miami on Thursday night.
Sacramento won when Hill's replacement as the starting point guard, Fox, slammed home a missed shot by BogdanBogdanovic with three seconds to play to secure the Kings' first win in South Beach since 2001. Sacramento is 4-26 all-time at Miami.
