Cavaliers' Historic NBA Streak Comes To An End

The Cleveland Cavaliers had won 11 straight overtime games before their loss to the Chicago Bulls.

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Chicago Bulls in heartbreaking fashion Wednesday evening. They've only won two games since returning from the All-Star Break and are only second in the Eastern Conference by 0.5 games.

However, a historic run came to an end in Cleveland's loss to the Bulls as well. It took two overtime for the Bulls to top the Cavs. This win is even more impressive for Chicago considering how well Cleveland has been in overtime over the last year and a half.

The Cavs entered the game with an 11-game overtime winning streak. This stretch of games was tied for the second-longest in NBA history. Cleveland came up two games short of tying the NBA record set by the New Orleans Pelicans on March 2, 2004-Februraru, 6, 2008.

There are only five teams, including the Cavaliers, who have won 11 or more straight overtime games.

Cleveland's historic run started on March 14, 2022, in a 120-111 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers and lasted until December 18, 2023, in a 135-130 victory over the Houston Rockets.

While this streak doesn't have any other implications for the team. It does go to show how clutch Cleveland has been over the last year and a half. The Cavs have done a tremendous job stepping up in close games.

Hopefully, the success Cleveland has found in high-intensity, tight contests will help the Cavs when it comes to the back-and-forth playoff games they're destined to be a part of.
