Cavs News: Latest On Donovan Mitchell's Future

Donovan Mitchell is focused on helping the Cleveland Cavaliers win. Not his long-term future.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently navigating their toughest challenge of the season as the team will be down Darius Garland and Evan Mobley for the foreseeable future. Needless to say, both of these players are key to Cleveland's overall success which could now be in jeopardy if there are any setbacks in their rehab.

Opposing teams took this as an opportunity to check in on the availability of Donovan Mitchell and if the Cavaliers would be willing to trade the four-time All-Star, per Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

There were initial reports over the summer that Mitchell may already have his eyes set on another city once his contract with the Cavaliers is up causing fans to worry. He then passed on an extension with Cleveland only fueling the rumors about his future with the Cavaliers.

However, none of this means that Mitchell's days with the Cavs are numbered or that there's a trade on the horizon. In fact, Mitchell himself is making his focus very clear shutting down questions that revolve around his future.

“My job is to focus on this. We have two guys that are out, so I’m not answering anything. And no disrespect. I appreciate that you have to ask the question, but I’m not going there with any of those questions. My focus is on these guys being out, us trying to find a way to get wins.”

The Cavs are by no means out of any sort of playoff hunt midway through December. Cleveland holds a 14-12 record, will hopefully have DG and Mobley back by the beginning of February, and has a top scorer in the NBA committed to this team.

Cleveland needs to follow Mitchell's lead and focus on how they can rack up wins now.
