Joe Mazzulla Praises Kristaps Porzingis for his Growth on Defense

On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics picked up a 135-100 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Kristaps Porzingis registered a game-high 27 points and 12 rebounds over 31 minutes.

Per Inside The Celtics, Joe Mazzulla complimented Porzingis’ ability to contain Oklahoma City’s offense. 

"He takes pride in his defense. Doing his work early, being in a stance...I thought he did a great job today navigating the Holmgren matchup and he did a good job navigating crossmatches."

Holmgren totaled 11 points and seven rebounds over 27 minutes. This season, the Thunder center has been averaging 16.7 points per game.

Mazzulla also noted Porzingis’ efforts in understanding the Celtics’ defensive scheme. 

Boston's next game is scheduled for Friday, Apr. 5, against the Sacramento Kings at TD Garden; tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
