The Boston Celtics' official X (previously known as Twitter) account announced on Wednesday that the team will play a pair of preseason games against the Denver Nuggets in Abu Dhabi next October.

The exhibition contests between two of the top teams in the NBA at the moment will take place on Oct. 4 and Oct. 6.

The Nuggets — currently the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference with a 42-20 record — are the reigning NBA champions. Denver eliminated the Miami Heat in five games in the 2023 NBA Finals to secure its first title in franchise history.

The Celtics, on the other hand, sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with a 48-13 record. Their 11-game winning streak — the longest winning streak of any team this season — recently came to an end at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.

Cleveland managed to beat the Celtics without arguably its best player in Donovan Mitchell, who sat out due to a knee injury.

Boston will try to avoid picking up its second consecutive defeat when it takes on the Nuggets on the road on Thursday night in what should be an entertaining matchup.
