Jayson Tatum Describes Celtics' Maturation
Over recent days, multiple Boston Celtics have discussed the mindset of knowing that they can still be much better as the NBA's best team, not peaking yet. The team can still grow and get better with April and May on their minds as the heavy title favorites.
As Derrick White and Jaylen Brown voiced it recently, Boston is focused on improving every day towards the ultimate goal. Without thinking about the standings or potential matchups, they want to take the last portion of the season one day at a time, building great habits for their own preparation.
Jayson Tatum discussed the feeling around his team entering March.
"We've just done a really good job of staying present," Tatum said. "We always talk about getting a little bit better every day. We're not overlooking any opponent... We approach every game the same way... And I think that's been beneficial so far."
The MVP candidate also mentioned the Celtics, "win the day mantra."
"I know we're in first place, we've got a comfortable lead," Tatum said. "But like I said earlier, we don't talk about it much, but we really just try to get better every day... Maybe last year we rushed and tried to get to the playoffs, but with this year, we try to take it one day at a time... We know we've got a really good team, but we don't put too much stock or pay too much attention to having a lead in the standings."
The Celtics seek their 10th consecutive win on Friday night when they host old friend Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks.
