On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics picked up a 144-119 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Derrick White registered a team-high 28 points and seven rebounds.

Joe Mazzulla believes White deserves an All-Star selection.

"He's an All-Star," said Mazzulla. "(He's playing with) freedom, confidence, and empowerment from his teammates. A lot of times, when we want to settle the team down and we want to get to really good execution, we go to Derrick White pick and rolls.”

This season, White is averaging 16.5 points and 5.1 assists per game on 49.2-percent field-goal shooting. He is leading the Celtics in total steals and ranks second in total blocks.

Although there is a serious case for White to appear in the NBA’s upcoming All-Star Game, he will likely be undervalued due to the prominence of teammates Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Other guards in the league, such as Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, will benefit from being a top scoring option.

NBA All-Star Voting is available on the NBA app and NBA.com.
