Former Celtics Forward Signs with Timberwolves

Former 15th overall pick and North Carolina star earns opportunity to continue NBA career.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have defied many people, including this author's expectations for them this season, returning from the All-Star break with a 39-16 record and sitting atop the Western Conference.

They've figured out how best to function with Karl-Anthony Towns playing alongside Rudy Gobert, employing a defense yielding the fewest points per game, surrendering only 106.7 per contest.

As burgeoning star Anthony Edwards and Co. return for the final stretch before a postseason that will provide a more accurate barometer of how close this team is to lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy, the Timberwolves have added Justin Jackson to their roster.

Minnesota's signing him to a 10-day contract, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 15th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft spent two stints with the Boston Celtics, including 23 appearances in the 2022-23 campaign. He's averaging 19.9 points with the G League Texas Legends this season.

The six-foot-eight forward, who starred at North Carolina, turns 29 in late March. The Timberwolves represent the seventh NBA team the Houston, Texas native has played for as he's impressively carved out a six-year career at the game's highest level. It's a journey that now continues in Minnesota.
