Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard is the talk of the summer.

But instead of giving his attention to the trade rumors, he is either in a recording studio or at his Formula Zero basketball camp.

On Friday, a video went viral of him describing to his campers how to utilize a pick-and-roll play.

“If you come to this spot and you’re not attacking, they know a pick-and-roll is coming,” Lillard said. “Because there’s so much pick-and-roll in the game. High school, college, and the NBA. So when you get here, you gotta know your man is already gonna know it’s probably a screen coming. So you gotta already know, your first setup is using your eyes like he talked about. When I get in a position, I’m never looking at the screener. Like a lot of y’all came right over here and you was like, you were looking right at him. If you already know he there, you don’t even gotta be like that. You can be looking this way.”

The pick-and-roll is among the most effective way to score. Lillard has benefited from it throughout his career. When LaMarcus Aldridge played on the Trail Blazers, he and Lillard were known for constantly running the play.

This is another reason why the Heat would benefit from adding Lillard to their roster. With center Bam Adebayo being one of the best pick-and-roll players in the league, the combination of him and Lillard would dominate the court.
