Erik Spoelstra's Ex-Wife Responds To "Fumble The Bag" Comment Following Spoelstra's Contract Extension

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra's ex-wife, Nikki Spoelstra, has replied to remarks about her "fumbling the bag" after Spoelstra's long-term contract extension

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is expanding the NBA's coaching market after signing an eight-year, $120-plus million contract extension.

The details of the extension led people on social media to begin messing with Spoelstra's ex-wife, Nikki Spoelstra. Instead of remaining silent, she responded to one of the trolls on her Instagram story.

“Lol. I’m going to address this comment NOT as it pertains to my personal life choices but as it relates to a general thought process that I believe a lot of people have," Spoelstra said. "And that a lot of people have harassed me with over the years,”

“According to crass, ignorant, uninformed society at large, women can’t ‘win,'" she continued.

They were married for roughly seven years, with their divorce coming a few months ago. It is an odd coincidence that the extension was signed soon after their split, but it is unknown if the timing was purposeful.

She went on to describe the situation with sarcasm: “Women can’t be genuinely in love with someone successful. No, they’re pretending and they’re in it for the money. And if a woman chooses to not be with a successful partner, apparently she’s an idiot.

“And no, I won’t ignore it. IgNoRiNg iT (harassment) for years messed with my emotional health and people need to have a better understanding of how their words can affect other people. Not just me. But people. In general. Be nicer," Spoelstra finished.
