ESPN Still Gives the Boston Celtics a 72 Percent Chance to Win the Series Against the Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are disrespected once again by those on the outside.

The Miami Heat are up 3-0 in the conference finals after a crushing Sunday night win over the Boston Celtics. This puts them on the brink of heading to the NBA Finals, placing the Celtics in a virtually impossible situation to win the series. No team in league history has come back in a series from this deficit.

But according to ESPN, this only swings in Boston’s favor. ESPN now gives the Celtics…a 72 percent chance to win the series. Yes, the chances of them winning the series increased after Boston got blown out and dropped their third game in a row.

But as Jimmy Butler said after Game 2, “We don’t care if you pick us to win.”

Anything can happen, but a lot needs to change for the Celtics if they want to do the impossible. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have struggled in this series. Brown is averaging 16.7 points on 2 of 20 shooting from 3-point range. Tatum is averaging 26 points on 45.5 percent shooting, but his fourth quarter statistics have been way below expectations. He still has yet to make a field goal in the final period, averaging just 5.5 points off just free throws. Tatum didn’t even play in the closing minutes of Game 3 after going 6 of 18 for 14 points.

As for the Heat, they need to keep their foot on the gas. Gabe Vincent, who exploded for a team-leading 29 points, said, “We’re up 3-0, but we all know the series is far from over. One day at a time, one game at a time.”
