LeBron James' 40,000-Point Mark Trumps Miami Heat's Starting Lineup

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James' 40,000 career points mark a higher total than the Miami Heat's starting five

Last week Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James became the first player in NBA history to record 40,000 career points. He scored 26 points against the Denver Nuggets Saturday.

"Being the first player to do something, it's pretty cool in this league," James said. " Just knowing the history, the greats that's come through the league, and then you see some of the greats on the floor tonight, it was great to compete."

This scoring mark by James will trump that of the Miami Heat's starting lineup. Their points tally 36,898: Jimmy Butler (14,583), Bam Adebayo (7,166), Tyler Herro (5,021), Terry Rozier (8,242), and Caleb Martin (2,053).

James, 39, spent four seasons with the Heat from 2010 to 2014, where he scored 7,919 points. James, alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, won two NBA championships and reached the Finals in four consecutive years.

Despite his age, James remains one of the most dominant players in the league. He is averaging 25.2 points, 7.9 assists, and 7.1 rebounds on 52.6 percent shooting. Not to mention, his 19-point final quarter on Wednesday led to a comeback win against the Los Angeles Clippers (37-20). He has been vocal about his retirement being on the horizon but has yet to show signs of slowing down this season.

It seems unlikely another player will reach this milestone in our lifetimes, leaving James in a tier of his own.
