Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George Reveals Biggest Regret Of His Career Was Against LeBron James

Paul George admits he regrets letting LeBron James defeat the Indiana Pacers with the buzzer-beating layup

With Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James reaching 20th year, some players have shared their stories of going up against him.

The most recent one was Los Angeles Clippers’ forward Paul George.

During a Monday episode on his podcast Podcast P with Paul George, George admitted the biggest regret of his career was Game 1 of the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals when the Miami Heat played the Indiana Pacers.

With two seconds left in overtime, James caught an inbound pass and raced past George for the buzzer-beating layup, securing the victory.

“The moment that I wish I could take back and it still haunts me to this day is the 2013 year in Miami, when we [lost] Game 1. I fucked the play up. I’m guarding [Le]Bron [James] we’re up, a stop and we win the game and it just happened so fast I’m guarding Bron, the ball’s sideout out of bounds. He zippers up fast as hell so I’m like ‘Shit, like I gotta catch up to this’ so I over pursue, he catches it like he read where I was at, spin right off me and he lays it up for the game.”

The play didn’t bring George’s emotions down. In Game 2, he had arguably his biggest career moment. Right before the third quarter ended, he drove the lane and dunked on Chris Andersen. The dunk was so great James had to dap George up at the end of the third before heading to the bench.

The Heat advanced to the Finals and won the championship but the Pacers still made sure the series went to seven games.

It was also when George started making a name for himself. Not only was he the NBA’s Most Improved Player, but he was also made the All-Star team, the All-NBA Third Team, and the All-Defensive Second Team.
