The saga surrounding star James Harden is starting to heat up quickly. After calling Philadelphia 76ers’ president Daryl Morey a liar, he might have opened himself up to more teams.

One of the teams that’s getting slept on is the Miami Heat.

There are many pundits who wouldn’t agree with Harden joining the Heat, though. On Jul. 19, a video went viral of Gilbert Arenas’ podcast Gil’s Arena. In the video, he says the Heat lack the assets needed to even begin trade discussions.

“Who are they gonna trade?” Arenas said. “What assets? ‘Oh yeah let me give you James Harden, and Imma give you back Tyler Herro.’ They already got [Tyrese] Maxey. Like they’re gonna get Herro and be like, ‘Oh yeah I can win championships now?’ What the f*** are you getting back? What does Miami have?”

But the Heat have a point guard in Kyle Lowry. Lowry, 37, hasn’t been the best version of himself since getting traded by the Toronto Raptors. Last season, he only averaged 11 points and showed major inconsistency. It got to the point where coach Erik Spoelstra decided to place him as a reserve in the playoffs where he only averaged nine points.

As much of a headache Harden is, adding him to the Heat could spark improvements. He may not be the best locker room player but on the court, his skills speak volumes. He’s still able to score the ball and take on pure point guard duties. But the Heat can really use his 3-point shooting, as they struggled with it last season.

Right now, his main destination is the Los Angeles Clippers but we know how powerful Pat Riley is.
