Old Dejounte Murray Instagram Story Resurfaces Amidst Miami Heat Trade Rumors

Old photo of Dejounte Murray posting Jimmy Butler jersey resurfaces after Miami Heat reportedly expressed interest in him.

Atlanta Hawks star Dejounte Murray is expected to be moved from the team after Adrian Wojnarowski announced they are "ready to trade" him.

Fans are now putting all his actions under inspection to see where he might eventually land. Even Murray's past actions are being factored into the equation, including the time Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler sent him a signed jersey in 2022. Murray, who was a San Antonio Spur at the time, posted Butler's jersey on his Instagram story as a sign of appreciation.

Butler's signed message said, "My brother, I'm so happy and proud of you!! One of my favorite players!! Respect."

Murray responded saying, "Real ones only...you already know I appreciate you dawg."

Murray had an All-Star season that year, averaging career highs in points (21.1), rebounds (8.3), steals (2.2), and assists (9.2). He was traded to Atlanta the next season, but the duo of him and Trae Young has been underwhelming so far.

The Heat are among the top teams expected to acquire Murray. Their point guard production has been thin with Dru Smith's season-ending injury and Kyle Lowry still sidelined. Even with Lowry and Smith on the court, the backcourt production was still lackluster. Murray could provide offensive firepower and help alleviate pressure off guard Tyler Herro. He could also give Miami another solid defender, playing into Miami's strength as the No. 10 scoring defense.

But given Miami's recent history of targeting star players, fans should probably be hesitant to indulge in these rumors.
