Terry Rozier’s Best Performance With Miami Heat Not Enough Against Dallas Mavericks

Terry Rozier had 27 points and 11 assists in the Miami Heat’s 114-108 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday

Terry Rozier had his best game in a Miami Heat uniform on Thursday.

Rozier led the team with 27 points and 11 assists in a 114-108 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Thursday was the highest amount of points, assists, and three-pointers that Rozier had in a single game with the Heat so far. It was also just the second time that Rozier had double-digit assists and zero turnovers during his career.

The Heat and Mavericks battled it out down to the final few minutes of the game. Rozier contributed seven points and three assists during a back-and-forth fourth quarter. Rozier even answered a late Luke Doncic step-back three with one of his own to keep the Heat in the game with two minutes remaining.

Rozier was acquired by the Heat in late January from the Charlotte Hornets. He replaced the struggling Kyle Lowry as the Heat’s starting point guard. Rozier had averaged just 13.9 points and 5.6 assists in 14 games with the Heat prior to Thursday’s performance. He had been averaging a career-best 23.2 points and 6.6 assists in 30 games with the Hornets.

Although it took time for Rozier to adjust to his new team, he has been one of the Heat’s best players over the past five games. Rozier is averaging 19.2 points over that stretch.

Rozier’s increased production has played a key role in the Heat’s recent success. The team has won seven of its past nine games.

Rozier and the Heat play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. The Thunder allow the most points to opposing point guards in the NBA.
