What Will Tyler Herro’s Impact Be If Miami Heat Make NBA Finals?

Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro has been out since Game 1 of the first round.

When the Miami Heat lost guard Tyler Herro for the rest of the series against the Milwaukee Bucks, everyone anticipated his season would be over because of his timetable to return.

But now, we are having the conversation of what the Heat could be in his return. There’s no exact timeline for when Herro can come back, but Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he’s “making progress.”

The Heat have maintained success without Herro but that doesn’t mean his presence diminishes them. After all, he was the third scoring option behind Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo during the regular season. He averaged 20.1 points on 44 percent shooting in his first season as a starter. His performances did fluctuate though, from dropping 40 on the Houston Rockets to having inefficient games against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Herro’s insert back into the lineup means Max Strus likely goes back to the bench unless they move him to the four over Kevin Love.

Some on social media even suggested keeping Herro out of the lineup to avoid disrupting Miami’s flow.

Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent are playing well as of late, even for some of the scoring inconsistencies. Herro hasn’t played for over a month, so he may take some time getting inserted back into the starting core. His 3-point shooting is iffy at times, and there has been some criticism of his performances against teams above .500. Still, his ascension this season should highlight his importance to the team.
