Spread & Over/Under Predictions: Charlotte Hornets vs Philadelphia 76ers

Picks for tonight's Hornets game.

Each game day, we at All Hornets will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of Charlotte Hornets games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: 76ers -11.5

4 Star play on the 76ers (-11.5): You may think this pick is because the Hornets lost 135-82 when they played the 76ers last month.

The real reason is that the Hornets lost 135-82 when they played the 76ers last month, and the biggest issue behind that loss is even worse this time around.

Joel Embiid waltzed his was to 42 points and 15 rebounds in the last matchup with Mark Williams' absence due to injury leaving Nick Richards as the only true center on the roster.

This time around? Williams is still injured, and Nick Richards has joined him. This leaves P.J. Washington and Nathan Mensah playing the majority of minutes at center tonight while covering the MVP-level threat on the other side.

Over/Under: 229.5

1 Star play on the under: LaMelo Ball's ability to facilitate a more cohesive offense and take the pressure off of guys like Terry Rozier and Brandon Miller bodes well for the team's chances to break 82 points this time around.

Picking up the pace is Charlotte's best chance of keeping this one competitive, but Philly's top-5 defense in the NBA will be hard to crack regardless.

Robert Covington and De'Anthony Melton and their 107.1 and 111.9 defensive ratings respectively will be out for this matchup though, which means a hot Hornets perimeter could push this towards the over.

My picks this season

ATS: 5-2 (71.4%)

O/U: 2-5 (28.6%)

Overall: 7-7(50%)
