Hornets Shut Down the Blazers, Get Back in the Win Column

The Hornets improve to 15-42 on the season.

PORTLAND, OR - After having their four-game winning streak snapped on Friday, the Charlotte Hornets rebounded with a 93-80 win over the Portland Trail Blazers Sunday night.

It was an excellent defensive product once again by the Hornets, holding the Blazers to their third-lowest total of the season.

The win was Charlotte first in Portland since 2008 and its also their fifth in the last six since the trade deadline. A trio of Hornets logged double-doubles on the night - Cody Martin (11 pts, 10 ast), Miles Bridges (18 pts, 10 rebs), and Nick Richards (21 pts, 10 rebs).

Best of the Night: Nick Richards

Richards gets the honor again tonight with one hell of an all-around performance. He notched another double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. Cody Martin deserves honorable mention for the job he did on Jerami Grant and Portland's ball-handlers.

Worst of the Night: Portland's shooting

The Trail Blazers couldn't buy a bucket to save their life. They finished the game shooting just 34.7% from the field, but an even worse 9.4 % (3/32) from three-point range. Kris Murray and Toumani Camara were essentially non-existent in the frontcourt for the Blazers, combining for six points.

Stat of the Night: Career high for Cody Martin

Martin recorded his second double-double of his career and en route of doing so, he set a new career high with ten assists.
