Score Predictions for Hornets at Cavaliers

Our staff predicts tonight's game between Charlotte and Cleveland.

The Charlotte Hornets (17-53) end their four-game road trip Monday night as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (43-27). The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. EST on Bally Sports.

Here are our staff predictions for tonight's contest.

Schuyler Callihan: Cavaliers 115, Hornets 90.

Whenever you hear effort being questioned by the head coach, that's not a good sign for where a team is at mentally. It makes sense, though. The Hornets have been out of the playoff conversation for several months and the finish line is just around the corner. This group has played hard for much of the season but with an end in sight, it's a little easier to pull up a little bit. Since their nine-game winning streak back in late January/early February, the Cavs have been up and down. They can't afford to give this one away.

Prediction record: 21-10.

James Plowright: Cavaliers 111, Hornets 94.

Recent play suggests Charlotte has finally let go of the rope. Uncompetitive, disinterested, low effort. It’s natural to happen as any NBA season winds down for a team with little to play for. If Martin/Curry we’re back I might even pick a win against a sliding Mitchell-less Cavaliers team, but I think their defense will suffocate the Hornets.

Prediction record: 27-10.

Pat Fitzsimmons: Cavaliers 115, Hornets 97.

Officially eliminated from playoffs, seemingly never-ending injuries, puts the Hornets in a place where they really have nothing to play for. With the lack of depth they have I don’t see how they can compete with the length and depth of the Cavs, even with out Mitchell, who are still playing to solidify their playoff seeding.

Prediction record: 4-2.
