The 2019-20 NBA just started. Literally. Just last night.

But it's also already mock draft season, apparently.

With Las Vegas setting the Charlotte Hornets over/under win total at 24, many folks are projecting Michael Jordan's franchise to have a very high pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Bleacher Report's latest mock draft, published by Jonathan Wasserman, has the Hornets winning the lottery and grabbing a nearby prospect. This mock draft has the Hornets picking UNC freshman point guard Cole Anthony.

Here's a few things to know about Anthony:

  • The 6-foot-3 guard from New York was tabbed as the No. 2 2019 recruit in the nation by ESPN and the No. 4 recruit by 247sports.
  • He is the son of Greg Anthony, the 11-year NBA veteran who won an NCAA title with UNLV.
  • He averaged 18 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 9.5 assists per game (yea, that's nearly a triple-double) as a senior in high school at Oak Hill Academy, the basketball factory in Virginia.
  • He led Team USA in scoring at the 2019 Nike Hoops Summit.
  • He's the preseason favorite to win ACC Rookie of the Year.

The question here is, would the Hornets spend the No. 1 pick on a point guard considering what they just paid Terry Rozier? That might depend on how Rozier plays this season. If Rozier has a great year, maybe Charlotte opts to ride with him at point guard for the next few seasons and they draft a big man, like James Wiseman of Memphis. Or Rozier could become an asset and they could trade him for other pieces and take Anthony. The Hornets also might just take the best player available -- which right now looks like Anthony -- and figure out the rest later.

With Anthony playing just up the road in Chapel Hill and the Hornets projected to win less than 30 games, fans should keep an eye on the potential future Hornet.

Here's what the other latest mock drafts are saying about the Hornets:

  • Stadium - Hornets take James Wiseman of Memphis at No. 1.
  • Forbes - Hornets take Anthony Edwards of Georgia at No. 1.
  • ESPN - Hornets take Anthony Edwards of Georgia at No. 2.
  • Busting Brackets - Hornets take Anthony Edwards of Georgia at No. 1.
