Charlotte Hornets To Sign Former OKC 1st Round Pick Aleksej Pokusevski

Pokusevski was the 17th pick in the 2020 draft

The Charlotte Hornets are signing former Oklahoma City Thunder forward Aleksej Pokusevski, aka "Poku". Originally the 17th pick in the 2020 draft, Pokusevski was waived by the Thunder following the trade deadline.

Similar to Tre Mann, Pokusevski played more in his first two NBA seasons while the Thunder were in the midst of a rebuild. As OKC have built into a contender, Pokusevski found himself glued to the bench.

Pokusevski is an unorthodox player, standing at close to 7ft but weighing in at just 210lb, with a skillset of a guard. Unfortunately, Pokusevski has yet to turn his funky, unique game into meaningful production which positively impacts a team.

For Charlotte to sign Pokusevski they will need to waive a player as they are currently at the maximum 15 roster spots. The most likely candidate is Center Marques Bolden who is currently signed on a 10 day contract. It's also possible Pokusevski could sign a two-way contract, with Nathan Mensah being the likely candidate to be replaced.
