Hornets Waive Nathan Mensah, Sign Marques Bolden to Two-Way Contract

Bolden returns after recently finishing a 10 day contract with the Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets have opted to waive Center Nathan Mensah and subsequently sign Marques Bolden. Despite being on a two-way contract, Mensah played 25 games for the Hornets due to Mark Williams' back injury, he averaged just 1.3pts 2.6reb in 12 minutes per game. 

Bolden, who has previously signed a 10-day contract with the Hornets in late February has been playing for the Wisconsin Herd G League team. In 31 games he averaged 13.3 points (55.6 FG%, 39.7 3P%, 74.3 FT%), 7.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.6 blocks in 24.9 minutes per game.

A five-star recruit out of DeSoto, Texas, Bolden played three seasons (2016-19) at Duke University, where he helped the Blue Devils win two ACC Tournament titles and reach the Elite 8 twice.

Mensah originally signed a two-way contract with the Hornets on Dec. 14, 2023, appearing in 25 contests and averaging 1.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. In 17 outings (17 starts) with the Greensboro Swarm this season, Mensah recorded 10.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.8 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game.
