Earlier this week, the Charlotte Hornets announced that second-round draft pick Jalen McDaniels had been assigned to its G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.

McDaniels, 21, featured in one game for the Hornets before receiving his G-League assignment. The raw 6-foot-1 forward played three minutes in the Hornets loss to the Timberwolves last week, getting two points and one rebound.

The Hornets drafted McDaniels with the 52 overall pick in the 2019 Draft out of San Diego State University, where he was a second team All-Mountain West selection. McDaniels was a four-star prospect in high school and red-shirted as a freshman with the Aztecs. As a third-year sophomore, he averaged 15.9 points per-game.

McDaniels is the first NBA rostered played the Hornets have assigned to the Swarm this season.

G-League Draft

The Swarm continued to fill out their roster last weekend by picking twice in the annual G-League Draft.

In the first round, with the 14 overall pick, they selected Demajeo Wiggins, a forward from Bowling Green State. Wiggins, who stands at 6-foot-10, played four years in college and was an All-MAC first team selection as a senior after averaging 12.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per-game.

With their second pick, which came in the third round, the Swarm added Max Montana. The 6-foot-8 forward began his college basketball career at Indiana, but then transferred to San Diego State and changed his last name from Hoetzel to Montana. He played in Germany last year.

After the draft, the Swarm signed Durrell Summers, a well-traveled 30-year-old guard. The Michigan State product has played with four G-League teams since 2011 and has also played professionally in France, Spain, Hungary, Israel, Mexico, Argentina and Germany.

The rest of the Swarm’s training camp roster includes: Robert Franks, Kobi Simmons, Joe Chealey, Josh Perkins, Thomas Welsh, John Dawson, Tyler Nelson, Joel Berry II, Mike Davis, Chris Flemmings, Donte Ingram and Ja’Quan Newton.
