Mark Williams Undergoes Successful Thumb Surgery

An injury update on the Charlotte big man.

With the NBA now in the offseason, it is expected that players will undergo surgery to repair injuries that are either minor or that they played through during the entire season.

One of those expected players on the Charlotte Hornets that was expected to follow this trend was Mark Williams and unsurprisingly, he underwent surgery to his thumb.

The Hornets took a risk playing Williams at the end of the season when the season was all but over, but it panned out.

There is no reported timetable of when Williams will return to basketball action but this likely means that he will be out for Summer League, which was something he wanted to participate in, similar to Nick Richards a year ago.

Williams played very well with the Hornets last season during his rookie season averaging 9.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
