Swarm Falls to Grand Rapids

Swarm have 7 players in double figures in the loss

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kai Jones recorded his seventh double-double of the season but the Greensboro Swarm, fell 122-106 at home on Saturday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Jones finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and two blocks in 29 minutes of playing time.

Grand Rapids (11-9) was paced by Isaiah Thomas who dropped 46 points on 13-of-25 with nine 3-pointers, seven assists and five rebounds. He had 15 points in the second quarter (26 in the first half). 

The Swarm (6-12) held a two-point lead after the first quarter 35-33 but the Gold ran away on a 31-4 run to open the second quarter. Grand Rapids would take a 75-54 lead into halftime. Their 75 first half points was the most by a Swarm opponent this season. The Swarm would then outscore Grand Rapids 52-47 in the second half but too little too late. 

For the Swarm, Joe Chealey had 15 points and seven assists. Cameron McGriff (12 points), LiAngelo Ball (11 points), Scottie Lewis (10 points), Arnoldas Kulboka (10 points) and Ikenna Ndugba (10 points) all scored in double figures for Greensboro. 

With the loss, the Swarm end their stretch of three games in four days. Greensboro now hits the road for six of its next seven games, starting with the Westchester Knicks (New York Knicks affiliate) on March 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
