The Golden State Warriors defeated the Utah Jazz in an up-tempo, highly contested battle at the Delta Center 140-137. After trailing for most of the game, the Jazz battled back in the final quarter and nearly completed the comeback. But with seconds remaining, Jazz forward John Collins threw the basketball out of bounds, which ultimately doomed his team.

There were high and low emotions for players on both sides, but the Warriors maintained their playoff position while the Jazz slipped into the loss column. Now, let's review key takeaways from last night's outcome.

JAZZ PLAYOFF HOPES ARE SLIM

Several weeks ago, we were discussing how the Jazz may be a tough out in the playoffs, but those thoughts are rapidly becoming a distant memory. Last night's loss dropped the Jazz to 26-30, recorded its 4th consecutive defeat, and are four losses behind the Warriors for the final NBA playoff ticket.

Also factoring into the discussion is the Jazz sporting a 3-7 record over the past 10 games, proving both winning and losing are contagious. Following the All-Star festivities, the Jazz will entertain a lighter schedule and may be able to string a few victories together. If not, the vacation planners will be on auto-dial as the team begins to contemplate next season.

KEYONTE GEORGE DAZZLES

George continues to mature as a basketball player, and last night, he delivered a career-high in points with 33. He also broke former Jazzman Donovan Mitchell's single-game 3-Point record by splashing nine times on 16 attempts from distance.

Let's pause for a second and digest 16 field goal attempts from beyond the arc in a single game. That's impressive. Mitchell's previous record was seven, so congratulations to Mr. George for his accomplishments! He will remain busy this weekend while participating in NBA All-Star festivities.

KLAY THOMPSON COMES OFF THE BENCH

We actually witnessed Thompson perform in a non-starter role for the first time since his rookie season. He managed to score 35 points and matched George's offensive production by connecting on seven shots from distance.

This contest may begin a new permanent role for Thompson if he continues to request to be a Warrior for life. The youth movement and development are alive and well in the Bay area, and his ability to stroke the rock may be in the cards for his team to make a deep playoff run.

It's been a fun season for the Jazz so far, but now all of the NBA teams will take a break and enjoy All-Star weekend. Good Luck to the Jazzmen, who will be participating in All-Star weekend.
