Jazz Join Bulls as Co-Owners of Long-Standing NBA Record

The Utah Jazz have been the cardiac kids this season.

The Utah Jazz lost a one-point heartbreaker on Sunday afternoon against the Brooklyn Nets and have now lost six of their last seven. The Jazz finish off their season with games against Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and two against the surging Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers are currently tied in the loss column with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors. The Jazz also own the tiebreakers against those teams, essentially allowing them to own their destiny as far as their placement in the standings goes.

The Jazz still have a small chance of making the play-in tournament, and those two games could possibly determine their fate. For the Lakers, on the other hand, these two games (including the last game of each respective team's regular seasons) will heavily determine whether they fall into the play-in-tournament or a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

The Jazz have been competitive in almost every one of their games this season, with an astounding 11 games decided by one point. The last team to do so was the 72-73 Chicago Bulls.

These two games will look to be no different as the Jazz look to spoil the Lakers' day. The Jazz beat the Lakers once this season, back on November 22, but both teams looked much different.

As the Jazz look forward, they'll open as underdogs in four of their remaining games, but insiders have discounted them all season while they continue to prove them wrong. The Jazz aren’t looking to roll over until the final minute of the final game of this season, which coincidentally is against the Lakers.

As we see from most underdogs in sports, a team with nothing to lose is sometimes stronger than a team with everything to prove.
