Jazz HC Evan Bradds Praises Keyonte George: ‘Very Happy, Very Pleased'

In this story:
If there were any doubts in the Utah Jazz front office when they selected Keyonte George in their most recent draft, those have now been silenced. George’s incredible outing in the Jazz’s opening game in the Las Vegas Summer League helped Utah vault past the Los Angeles Clippers 105-99.
It was simply an electric performance from Keyonte. In 34 minutes, he posted 33 points, ten assists, and two rebounds, recording a block and a steal as well. The questions surrounding his ability to transition into the future point guard of this team should be far from a concern after his immaculate display of playmaking and vision on Saturday night.
Summer League head coach Evan Bradds had some positive feedback on his performance after the game:
“He was good in both halves. I keep telling you guys the same thing: it’s every quarter he gets a little bit better. Whether that’s on offense or defense...passing the ball in the first half, making plays for others, and shooting...and he keeps getting better. So, very happy, very pleased."
Seeing such rapid improvement from the Jazz’s 16th overall selection should inspire all Jazz fans. In just the first game of the Las Vegas Summer League, we are already seeing George rise above everyone else on the floor, especially as a distributor.
Bradds continues, “I don’t think he tries to thread the needle, make the Instagram highlight pass, or anything like that. I think he lets the game come to him and whatever pass he needs to make, he just makes it."
It is hard to argue with Bradds considering Keyonte’s ten assists, with seven coming in the first half alone. Compiling only two turnovers in the process, the efficiency he has shown as a playmaker this early is extremely exciting.
Utah’s young core of the future continues to look better each day. We haven’t even seen other first-rounders Taylor Hendricks and Brice Sensabaugh take the floor this summer. Once this squad is fully healthy and ready to hit the hardwood, it will be a dangerous sight for the rest of the league.
George and the Jazz will match up in their next Summer League game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday at 8 MST. Then, we will see how well Keyonte’s production can translate, hopefully, able to replicate just a portion of what he did on Saturday
