Updated Odds of the Jazz Winning the West

Checking in with "Covers" spokesperson Pete Watt.

The Utah Jazz still have the best record in the NBA. However, their current margin over the Phoenix Suns stands at 1.5 games in the Western Conference standings. It's important to note that the Suns hold the tiebreaker over the Jazz, so the Jazz will need to win the West by a full game to be the #1 seed in the NBA Playoffs. As the Jazz stand alone atop the NBA standings, let's check in with the oddsmakers to see what they are saying about Utah's NBA championship odds.

I caught up with with Covers spokesperson Pete Watt once again, he does really great work. You can read the updated Western Conference title odds on Covers website. They have covered sports betting for over 25 years.

On the Jazz's odds of winning the Western Conference and advancing to the NBA Finals, Watt said, "Currently third-favorites to top the West at +400 - which indicates a 20% implied probability - and puts them behind only the two Los Angeles teams in the oddsmakers estimations. This is in pretty stark contrast to their price of +1,600 back when the market opened. At that point, they were being given the same odds as Houston, but the two teams have gone in very different directions since. Utah and vying for favoritism, while the Rockets are +200,000; a 0.05% chance!"

As of the time of this article, the Lakers and Clippers have better odds to win the Western conference. The Suns, Nuggets, and Mavericks round out the top six. Below are the odds to with the Western Conference as of April, 15:

LA Lakers - +120

LA Clippers - +250

Utah Jazz - +400

Phoenix Suns - +1,200

Denver Nuggets - +1,200

Dallas Mavericks - +2,500
