Utah Jazz 2024 Draft Outlook: Top-10 Pick Odds Revealed

Here’s a peek of how the Utah Jazz first-round pick is trending.

The tables have turned on what was a promising season for the Utah Jazz, and the online bookies have taken note. It was only a little over a month ago when Utah was given 5-1 odds to make the playoffs, but the possibility of a playoff appearance has been completely taken off the board.

However, even though it’s still a long shot, DraftKings is giving Utah a 25-1 shot of obtaining the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft. Indeed, winning the draft lottery is a long shot, but drafting in the top ten is very likely. Let’s look at where Utah could end up with their first-round pick in 2024.

Where it stands now, Utah is in the eleven spot regarding the draft lottery. Utah would convey its top-10 protected pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder if this were to hold up at year's end. But with Utah prioritizing player development over winning basketball games, there's a very good shot that the selection will be retained this year.

The best case scenario for Jazz fans that are a part of team tank is to jump up to the eighth-best lottery odds. There would need to be a collapse for that to happen, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

The teams Utah would need to leapfrog are the Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets, and Atlanta Hawks. In order to get under the Nets' current winning percentage, the Jazz would need to finish the season 4-18. Regarding catching the Rockets, they would have to close out the year at 7-15 and the Hawks at 9-13. Now these are based on winning percentages and if any of these teams just strung 2-3 consecutive wins, these numbers would make a significant change.

What Utah has going for them is the Hawks and Nets are trying to win games while the Jazz have cashed in their chips. The Hawks and Nets are battling for the last spot in the play-in tournament, and the way I see it, the most likely scenario is Utah landing in the nine spot.

The ninth spot will give Utah a 4.5% shot at the No. 1 pick and a 20.4% chance for a top-4 pick. Many games are still to be played, but this is how it’s trending at the moment.
