It's one step forward and one step back for the Utah Jazz on the injury front. Off the heels of the news that All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen will be back after an eight-game hiatus, rookie point guard Keyonte George injured his left foot just four minutes into the game versus the New York Knicks. The Jazz would later announce that George would not return to the game.

Leading up to the Knicks game, it was a good week for the No. 16 overall pick of the 2023 draft. George scored a career-high 30 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. Also, Draft Digest has him taking the No. 5 spot in their Rookie Ladder rankings.

Heading into the Knicks game, George was averaging 11.4 points and 5.2 assists per game. After being anointed the starter earlier this year, those numbers were bound to go up.

George has had some injury problems in his young pro career. However, this setback isn't related to the injury that occurred during the Summer League. George turned his right ankle in a game versus the Denver Nuggets causing him to miss the remainder of the tournament but was healthy enough to be 100% for training camp.
