The Clippers, Jazz, and Lakers have already created separation from the rest of the Western Conference. The Suns are an interesting team to watch throughout the next few weeks - they have won six consecutive games.

Upcoming Schedule

Let's take a look at the upcoming schedule (Monday-Sunday) for the Jazz, Clippers, and Lakers, and how that could impact the standings.

Utah Jazz - vs 76ers, @ Clippers, @ Clippers

Mike Conley (10)

The Jazz are in the middle of the most difficult part of their schedule. With a 2.5 game lead over the Clippers, the Jazz could fall all the way to third place with three losses this week. Based on the way the Jazz have played over the last month, however, it's hard to imagine Utah losing three straight games. The Jazz will likely remain one of the top two seeds in the Western conference after this week.

LA Lakers - @ Timberwolves, vs Nets, vs Heat

The Lakers will be favored to win at least two games this week. They could surpass the Jazz in the standings if two things happen:

  1. The Jazz lose twice this week
  2. The Lakers go undefeated this week

LA Clippers - vs Heat, vs Jazz, vs Jazz, vs Nets

The Clippers face a challenging schedule in their own right this week. If the Jazz beat the Clippers twice, the Jazz will hold a substantial lead in the standings. If the Clippers beat the Jazz twice, they will be firmly back in contention for the number one spot in the West.
