De’Aaron Fox Makes History in Scoring Stat for the Kings

The 26-year-old guard tied DeMarcus Cousins in this scoring stat after Saturday's game.

De'Aaron Fox is a franchise star undoubtedly, and when he is at his best, the Sacramento Kings are at their best. During Saturday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks, Fox moved his name up in the history books for the Kings with his 81st 30-point game of all time, tying himself with Kings legend DeMarcus Cousins for 5th in Sacramento's record book.

Fox is having a superb season, despite a shaky recent month. Despite this month, Fox has three 30-point performances over his last six. This season, the All-Star point guard averages 27.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 4 rebounds per game.

It is only a matter of time before Fox surpasses Boogie as the sole fifth player of all time, but he will have to wait a bit before he passes the next King in fourth place, Mitch Richmond. The totals of the top 5 are listed below for reference:

1. Oscar Robertson - 382
2. Nate Archibald - 148
3. Jack Twyman - 136
4. Mitch Richmond - 105
5. De'Aaron Fox/Demarcus Cousins - 81

While nobody may ever catch the great Big O, Fox could easily move himself into the second position ahead of Tiny before his career ends if he stays with the Kings for most of his career.

Fox has 16 30-point games this season alone as we move past the halfway point, skyrocketing him up the rankings. While he likely will have to wait until next season to pass Richmond, anything is possible given what Fox is capable of.

Fox will have a chance to completely pass Boogie on Monday, January 29 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET against the Memphis Grizzlies.
