Kings' De’Aaron Fox Confidently Dubs Domantas Sabonis MVP Candidate

In this story:
While the Sacramento Kings may have had zero All-Stars this year, their sights are aimed at bigger and better things. Most notably, a candidate for the Most Valuable Player award in F Domantas Sabonis.
Leading the league in triple-doubles so far this season, Sabonis has been one of the best big men in the league, dominating the paint night-in and night-out. Against one of the most athletic centers in the NBA in Victor Wembanyama, Domas recorded 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists that included some highlight reel plays.

Alongside the Lithuanian is star G De'Aaron Fox, who endorsed his big man for some MVP love after another outstanding performance on Thursday night. Fox talked about what Sabonis has meant to this team, and why he should be accredited as one of the best in the league (via @SeanCunningham | X):
You don't want to become numb to what he's doing. Like, that's not normal. It's only been done a few times in this game. The fact that he's available every night is big for us because he plays so hard, plays so physical... That's leading by example. If something's hurt he's like "Nah, I'm fine, I'm gonna go out there and play and give it my all." You live with the results, and that's what you want out of somebody who's one of the best players in this league who should be an MVP candidate.
Sabonis is currently top five in the NBA in multiple statistical categories, and still is a major underdog for the MVP award. Currently, Domas sits in sixth place in HoopsHype's global rating chart.

Sabonis will face off against Los Angeles Clippers C Ivaca Zubac on Sunday, a player who he struggled against earlier this season. Through their first two matchups in 2023-24, the Kings' star big man is averaging 13/7.5/3 against Zubac. These numbers are notably worse than his season averages, but will look to improve as he continues his hot streak.
