Kings C JaVale McGee Out for Sunday's Matchup Against the Warriors

The Kings' backup big man will miss action against his former team.

Much of the NBA media expects the Sacramento Kings to regress this season, mainly due to the lack of injuries the team sustained in their historic 2022-23 season. Two games into the preseason, the Kings are already dealing with minor injuries.

After F Keegan Murray missed their second preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers, C JaVale McGee is now set to miss time.

McGee will miss Sunday night's matchup against the Golden State Warriors with right wrist soreness. The Kings have options in their lineup to replace McGee, but his size and interior presence will be missed in this game.

McGee is the only King listed on the injury report, so they will look toward their other big men to fill his shoes. Except to see C Alex Len and F Trey Lyles getting center minutes with the second unit.

With this injury, McGee misses an opportunity to play against his former team, as he won two championships in Golden State. The Kings face the Warriors twice within the first week of the regular season, so McGee will have more chances to show out against Golden State.

Sacramento will miss McGee's presence off the bench, but the team must prevail in his absence. The Kings take on the Warriors on Sunday at 6:30 P.M. PT.
