Despite not being able to secure any All-Star representation earlier this month, the Sacramento Kings are now staring down the opportunity to win and bring some hardware their way at the end of the regular season.

After being firmly in the race throughout the season to win the coveted Sixth Man of the Year award, Malik Monk is now leading the way with just over two months to go.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Monk is now the leader in the clubhouse to win the award. The Kings guard leads the pack as the favorite at -130 odds, with Los Angeles Clippers guard Norman Powell lurking behind at +400. If Monk were to win the award, it would be the first time a King has received the honors since Bobby Jackson took it home for the 2002-23 season.

The Kings guard has had a stellar year for Sacramento by commanding the second unit. In his 55 games played this season, Monk is averaging 15.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists on 44.9/37.2/82.2. This season marks the highest point average of his career, surpassing his numbers from the 2021-22 year with the Los Angeles Lakers (13.8). He's also further developed his skills as a playmaker, producing his highest assist average alongside his scoring output.

If Monk keeps up the pace he's on, it'll be hard to deny giving him some serious consideration. Sacramento currently sits 5th in the Western Conference playoff race and has the chance to keep surging up the standings if they close out the season strong.

With just over 20 games to go in the regular season, Monk will look to build upon his campaign with some solid performances down the stretch.
