Kings’ Mike Brown Honors Former Colleague Milojević

Brown issued a statement honoring Milojević after his passing Wednesday.

Dejan Milojević, an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, sadly passed away on Wednesday, January 17 in Utah after suffering a heart attack the night prior at a team dinner. The Warriors were set to take on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, however the game has been postponed.

Sacramento Kings HC Mike Brown issued a statement honoring Milojević Wednesday afternoon. Brown worked with Milojević during the Warriors 2022 Championship run before Brown left the following year to become the Kings' head coach.

"I am absolutely heartbroken by Dejan's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Dejan during my time with the Warriors. Not only was he an extremely talented coach, he was an even better person. I join the entire basketball community in grieving his loss. My thoughts are with his wife, Natasa, and their children, Nikola and Masa."

Milojević joined the Warriors in 2021 after spending the prior eight years coaching in Europe. His coaching history includes stints with KK Budućnost in Montenegro, KK Mega Basket in Serbia, assistant coach of the Serbian national team, as well as Summer League runs with the Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs, and the Houston Rockets.

Milojević worked with many European NBA players before they came into the league, including but not limited to MVP C Nikola Jokic, C Ivaca Zubac, C Goga Bitadze, and C Boban Marjanovic.

Milojević was the MVP of the Adriatic League for three consecutive years from 2004-2006, the same league that produced many current NBA talents.
