Sacramento Kings Fall Outside of Top 10 in Latest NBA Power Rankings

The Kings have some work to make up to beat their strong finish last season.

The Sacramento Kings finished with a 48-34 record last season, good enough for the third spot in the Western Conference to end a 16-year playoff drought. The Kings ended with the 7th best regular season record overall, but ultimately crashed out to the Golden State Warriors in the first round.

In the most recent power rankings released by ESPN, the Kings fall outside the top 10 after previously being ranked at 9. The new spot for Sacramento is 11 - and this is before the loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.

Early season power rankings are not too important, but the Kings will certainly fall next week after the loss to the Clippers, and they have a tough game Saturday against the Denver Nuggets. The home loss to the Clippers - despite a 40-point effort from G De'Aaron Fox - was the Kings' second back-to-back game of the season, and they lost both of them by large margins.

The team has 15 total back-to-backs scheduled this season, and for a high speed highly efficient offense, it will be difficult to recover in time for the latter game. Kings fans should not sound the alarms yet, but there is work that needs to be done to ensure wins that are usually scheduled losses.
