Kings Rule Out F Trey Lyles for Tuesday's Matchup vs. Suns

The Kings will be shorthanded as they take on the Suns.

Just 30 minutes away from the tip, the Sacramento Kings have ruled out backup forward Trey Lyles against the Phoenix Suns due to illness. With an already diminished forward rotation, the Kings will be another man down as they take on a star-studded Phoenix squad.

With Sasha Vezenkov set to miss his ninth game of their last 11, the Kings will be missing key pieces in Phoenix.

Since missing the first 13 games of the season, Lyles has played in all but one for Sacramento and has been an effective wing off the bench when active. Lyles is averaging 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season but has struggled against Phoenix, going scoreless in two of their three meetings.

The Kings are 2-1 over the Suns this season, looking to go up 3-1 on the series in Phoenix on Tuesday night. With Lyles out, expect Alex Len to get extended minutes as the backup center as Sacramento will stray away from the small ball lineup.

Lyles and Vezenkov being sidelined will lead to other wings getting expanded opportunities, as young forward Kessler Edwards could potentially get more time in their place.

The Kings and Suns tip off at 7 p.m. PT.
