Kings Trio Combine for 90 Points To Secure 5th Consecutive Win

With a nail-biting 129-120 win over the Spurs, the Sacramento Kings move to 2-0 in In-Season Tournament action.

The Sacramento Kings took down the San Antonio Spurs 129-120 in an In-Season Tournament thriller, as the Kings move to 7-4 to cap off a five-game win streak. The Kings move to 2-0 in In-Season Tournament Group Play, moving up to first place in West Group C.

The Kings were playing catch up in the first half after an 18-point first-quarter deficit, as Spurs elite rookie C Victor Wembanyama dominated. Wembanyama finished with 27 points and nine rebounds, but frontcourt partner C Zach Collins was just as impressive. Collins finished with 28 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, exposing the weak interior defense of Sacramento.

The Kings ultimately fought their way back, led by the All-NBA duo of G De'Aaron Fox and C Domantas Sabonis. Fox finished the game with 43 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Sabonis pitched in 27 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists. Elite sixth man G Malik Monk was explosive off the bench, with a 20-point, eight-assists performance.

The Kings trio not only combined for 90 of Sacramento's 129 points, but they accounted for 22 of the team's 31 assists as well. Friday night's dominant performance has proven how valuable Sacramento's stars are.

Fox and Sabonis are each making their cases for MVP candidacy and All-NBA teams, and as the Kings continue to win, their stocks will continue to rise. While the individual success of the Kings is note-worthy, impressive performances from the stars make championship dreams in Sacramento more realistic.

While the Kings did not play their best game of the season, Fox, Sabonis, and Monk stepped up and caught another win.
