RJ Barrett has arguably been the New York Knicks' best player in the early part of this new season, and his teammates and coaches are getting a first-hand view of their tantalizing prospect. But what has impressed them most about the southpaw rookie?

"His steadiness," head coach David Fizdale said prior to New York's home game against the Sacramento Kings. "Doesn't get too high or too low."

Composure was a popular answer with Barrett's veteran teammates as well. along with his work ethic and attitude.

"He listens, he's eager to learn about the game, he's eager to learn what can make him a better pro," 10-year veteran Taj Gibson said. "He's here early in the morning and leaves late."

Frank Ntilikina also led off with "composure," as well as citing Barrett's athleticism and defense, speaking as one of the league's best young defenders.

The numbers back up talk of Barrett's even-keel approach. Despite all his minutes at point guard and running the offense, he'd held up a positive assist-to-turnover ratio. He hasn't pressed shooting anywhere from the floor, getting to the line over five times per game and shooting 39% from three.

Every developing team needs steadying presences, but the Knicks have a leg up in getting one out of their neophyte.
