'Typical Knicks!': Chris Broussard Talks Joel Embiid Trade Rumors

Chris Broussard isn't buying the Joel Embiid to the New York Knicks rumors.

"First Things First" co-host and NBA insider Chris Broussard recently expressed on the Fox Sports show that he is not buying the Joel Embiid to the Knicks rumors.

"This is typical Knicks," Broussard said. "They are always trying to pilfer another team's star. LeBron (James), Zion (Williamson), Donovan Mitchell, and now it's Embiid".

The idea of an Embiid-to-New York trade recently surfaced after the 2022-23 NBA MVP liked Adrian Wojnarowski's tweet about former Knicks forward Obi Toppin's trade to the Indiana Pacers, which became official on Friday. However, the Knicks' apparent interest in Embiid goes back even further.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported in May that Embiid had been on the Knicks' radar for quite some time.

"(I've) been told since midseason that Joel Embiid is the guy to watch for the Knicks," Bondy said. "Philly's playoff flame [going] out only intensified that belief."

But Broussard said that the Knicks have been trying to trade for/sign superstars for decades, even if the players in question want no part of it.

"Before (James, Mitchell, Williamson, and Embiid), it was Chris Webber and Grant Hill," Broussard said. "How about (you) do what other teams do and build your own team. Stop thinking every star free agent wants to play for the Knicks because they don't!".

76ers guard James Harden decided to accept his $35.6 million player option with Philadelphia, but he requested a trade instead of declining the option and going into free agency.

The Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly in the mix to trade for him, but everything is obviously still up in the air. Should the 10-time All-Star find a new home, there is no way the 76ers would be willing to give up Embiid as well, unless they want to start "the process" all over again.
