Woj: Knicks' OG Anunoby Out 'More Than Just Monday' vs. Warriors

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the elbow of New York Knicks star OG Anunoby has "flared up again," necessitating a longer absence than Monday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

This one hurts.

Appearing on ESPN's "NBA Countdown" pregame show, insider Adrian Wojnarowski had some dire news concerning the elbow of the New York Knicks' imported star OG Anunoby. The former Toronto Raptor will not play in Monday's game against the Golden State Warriors (10 p.m. ET, MSG/ESPN) and Wojnarowski hints he'll be gone beyond the San Francisco visit.

"I'm told that OG Anunoby is going to be out more than just tonight," Wojnarowski said. "That right elbow has flared up again, they need it to calm down. How long he is out is unclear, but it's certainly a concern for this Knicks team ... Right now, they will miss OG Anunoby more than just this game against the Warriors tonight."

The Knicks' season has undoubtedly turned for the better with Anunoby in the lineup as the team has gone 15-2 when he takes the floor in blue and orange. But an elbow injury kept him out for 18 games and the Knicks went 8-10 while he was medically sidelined.

He returned last week for New York's most recent trio, which yielded three wins and three defensive performances that held their opponent to double-figures.

New York knew it would be without Anunoby on Monday long before Wojnarowski's report, as he was listed as out due to "injury maintenance" on the official injury list. He had the same designation for Saturday's game in Sacramento, but Anunoby quipped that he "didn’t even know I was questionable" in a report from Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

In that same update, Anunoby remarked that he was "just sore" when asked about wrapping his elbow at several points of Thursday's win over Portland.
