The New York Knicks are Shaking things up.

New York officially announced the signing of former Philadelphia 76er Shake Milton on Tuesday, confirming a weekend report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Having cleared waivers, Milton will be eligible to appear on the playoff roster, which previously picked up fellow former Detroiters Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.

Milton, 27, is best known for spending five seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he landed shortly after his NBA entry with the Dallas Mavericks as a second round pick (54th overall) in the 2018 draft out of Southern Methodist. Amidst the Sixers' recent playoff runs, Milton served as a staple off the bench, notably averaging 13 points and 3.1 assists during the 2020-21 season en route to earning votes for the Sixth Man of the Year Award.

Milton signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves over the offseason but was traded to Detroit in a deadline deal that and Monte Morris to Minneapolis. He played four games with the Pistons before he was released, notably falling one rebound short of a double-double in a 13-point showing in Phoenix on Feb. 14. Milton had not played in any of the Pistons' last four games, which included a Monday night visit to Madison Square Garden.

Once Milton clears waivers and joins the Knicks' roster as planned, New York will be armed with a depth chart contributor that should also help the team get over a rash of ailments that includes the long-term absences of OG Anunoby and Julius Randle. The past month also saw backcourt men Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo miss at least one game on the injury report.

New York returns to action on Sunday night when it faces the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road (7 p.m. ET, MSG/ESPN).
