Pregame LISTEN: Knicks' Minnesota Madness, Miami Challenges, & RJ Barrett

AllKnicks.com's Geoff Magliocchetti joined ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team (WTMM-FM) to discuss the New York Knicks' heartbreaking loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, RJ Barrett's 2022-23 season, and the upcoming matchups from the Miami Heat.

March Madness has multiple meetings at Madison Square Garden this time around: in addition to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's descent upon The World's Most Famous Arena, the New York Knicks are closing in on a tournament clinch of their own.

With two more wins on its own, New York will secure a spot in the Eastern Conference's Play-In Tournament at the very least. A prime opportunity to earn one of those wins, however, went by the wayside on Monday night as the Knicks fell to the shorthanded Minnesota Timberwolves by a 140-134 final at Madison Square Garden despite a career-best 57 points from Julius Randle.

With that loss, the Knicks (42-31) now deal with two big challenges over the next two Wednesdays, which see showdowns against the Miami Heat beginning tonight in South Beach (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG). As it stands, New York is three games ahead of seventh-place Miami to avoid the playoff purgatory of the Play-In.

Amidst the activity surrounding the Knicks, AllKnicks.com's own Geoff Magliocchetti joined "The Drive With Charlie & Dan," the afternoon program on Albany's ESPN Radio 104.5 The Tema (WTMM-FM). Listen to the full interview here with timestamps pertaining to certain topics below.

  • 0:26-The Knicks' loss to the desperate, depleted Timberwolves and how they overcome it.
  • 3:50-RJ Barrett's 2022-23 season and his recent run of success, especially with Jalen Brunson's prior injury.
  • 7:32-The Knicks' defensive issues against the Timberwolves and how two meetings with the Heat loom large on the schedule.

"The Drive With Charlie & Dan," hosted by Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl, air weekday from 3-7 p.m. ET on WTMM-FM. Live stream the show here.
