Which Knicks Would 'Have' to Be Part of All-Star Trade?

SNY's Ian Begley explained that RJ Barrett and two other rising members of the New York Knicks would have to be included in trade packages for All-Stars.

As the New York Knicks community starves for another star, it seems like Philadelphia 76ers MVP center Joel Embiid is off the table. His teammate and potential future Hall of Fame guard James Harden, among others, may still be there for the taking ... at a price.

There are plenty of other All-Star caliber players potentially up for grabs on the trade market that the Knicks will probably try to go after. However, like last summer's Donovan Mitchell pursui, SNY's Ian Begley believes that the Knicks' homegrown franchise face RJ Barrett will have to be in any successful deal

"If you are going to trade for a top player, you're going to have to give up top young players on your end, so RJ Barrett could be a part of any deal," Begley said.

Begley further declared that the Knicks have the utmost respect for Barrett, but they know that he and potentially two other rising stars would have to be included in offers for All-Stars.

"In no way are they looking to get rid of him," Begley said. "But again, in that deal that brings them a top player back, I think he wouldn't be off the table and neither would Quentin Grimes or Immanuel Quickley. That's just part of the deal when you're trying to make a big-time trade to bring a top NBA player to your destination."

In terms of who Barrett would be dealt for, Begley reported that there's nothing "active at the moment," but the Knicks' pursuit of Toronto Raptors forward O.G. Anunoby, last season's leader in steals, is currently unlikely.

"Last I heard on O.G. Anunoby, which was about a week ago, is that Toronto wasn't taking calls on him at all," Begley said. "I don't think there's anything for the Knicks to be aggressive on at the moment."
