Darvin Ham Believes Lakers Need to 'Clean Things Up' Following Grind Out Win Over Injured Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Lakers squeaked out a win over the lowly Memphis Grizzlies on Friday evening but it was much tougher than it needed to be. Despite the Grizzlies having 13 players out on the injury report, the Lakers still managed to only win the game by three points.

They had to fight their way back into the game in the second half, somehow finding a way to avoid the disaster of a loss. While getting the win is nice, the Lakers had no business using that much energy against a team like the Grizzlies.

It speaks to their inconsistency throughout the year and with the playoffs coming up next week, points to a troubling issue. After the game, head coach Darvin Ham opened up about the performance, saying that they needed to "clean things up" going forward.

“All in all, there were some things we definitely got to clean up,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said, “but we needed to win this game and we won it.”

The win helped the Lakers climb in the standings, jumping from the 10th seed to 8th. Now entering into the final day of the regular season, Los Angeles has a chance to clinch the 8th seed with a win.

They will be taking on the New Orleans Pelicans on the road, a team that they could be facing again in the Play-In Tournament depending on how things shake out. Los Angeles will move on from their poor performance against Memphis, even if they are just happy that they got the win.
