Lakers News: LeBron James Opens Up About Bronny James' NBA Plans

The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly have their first-round draft pick this season after all. It has been reported that the New Orleans Pelicans will defer the final pick that Los Angeles owes them from the Anthony Davis trade to the 2025 Draft. This will give the Lakers a chance to either use the pick themselves on a young talent or place it within a trade to improve the roster.

One of the biggest storylines within the draft process that will involve the Lakers is what USC freshman guard Bronny James will ultimately do. He is the son of Lakers superstar LeBron James and has declared for the NBA Draft, while also leaving his college eligibility open by entering the transfer portal.

There has been talk for years about the two teaming up once Bronny made it to the NBA but his stock has lowered after a poor first college season. Nonetheless, the freshman is looking to potentially enter the NBA and his dad confirmed that he will make his own decision, without the weight of himself being involved.

Only Bronny knows if he is ready for the next step of entering into the NBA, so he will need to do this alone. While he will get advice from family and friends, this is his choice to make and he will have to deal with whatever path he chooses.

There are many who believe he should go back to college for another season but the appeal of the NBA is strong. Getting a chance to play alongside or with his dad on the NBA floor could also influence everything for Bronny. Until Bronny makes his decision official, there will be speculation all over, but if the Lakers get the chance to land him, they likely will grab him in the draft.
